50 years in the making, the re-opened Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is only 1 week away from being 50 years old. To celebrate this momentous occasion we have in store the most ambitious Gala ever held on the Railway when no less than EIGHTEEN different steam and diesel locomotives will operate passenger services over the Oxenhope branch from Keighley over the 8days from the 24th June to the 1st July
It is a mixture of locomotives in action over the weekend with the steam locomotives in the shape of 75078 and 45212, which arrives on Tuesday, and mainline diesel locomotive 50 035 'Ark Royal' which arrived on the KWVR this week.
The Food & Drink Festival takes place this weekend with a two train service on both days. Steam locomotives 5820 and 75078 and diesel 25 059 will head the services over the weekend with 75078 continuing with the weekday service.
Having previously announced 'Austerity' 0-6-0ST 71515 visiting from the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway, we are delighted that a second 'small' engine will be coming to the Valley in the shape of LSWR 2-4-0WT 30587, courtesy of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway.
This week the steam service throughout the week will have 43924 at the head which will operate for 7 consecutive days. The first Vintage Sunday train of the year operated last week behind 1054 and returns again this Sunday.
With the daily steam service in full swing, you can enjoy a journey up the Valley Monday – Sunday every week until September. As an added bonus, this Saturday sees the popular Diesel & Ale Day when our diesel service will be formed of Mk.1 stock with on-train bar facilities sponsored by Old Spot Brewery and hauled by 25 059. The steam service through the week will have 75078 at the head. 90733 will operate over the weekend, joined by steam locomotive 1054 on Sunday when we start the first of our Vintage Train Sundays.
This weekend the standard weekend service will see 90733 in operation on both days and 75078 at the head of the 2nd steam service on Sunday. Our Class 101 diesel multiple unit will operate the Saturday diesel service.

Following the recent departure of our Operations Officer who has moved into a major position within the heritage movement, the Railway has a vacancy for an Operations Officer.

Reminiscent of football excursions of days gone by, the newly formed Worth Valley Supporters Branch of Bradford City FC ran a special train on the 26th June to promote the club's new season ticket offer.
For the big diesel day on Saturday, 20 031 will be operating from 09.00 throughout the day with 75078 on the steam service. 43924 joins 75078 on Sunday and D0226 will operate the early morning diesel service
It's the second Vintage Sunday, 90733 will haul the main service, 85 on the main vintage set and 1054 on Keighley - Ingrow shuttle. 90733 will then continue the week. Saturday will also see the rare appearances on passenger trains of our two Class 08 diesel shunters on a special timetable.
The locomotive that starred in The Railway Children as the 'Green Dragon', Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 0-6-0 No. 957, last steamed on 20 January 2013, is to be the subject of an overhaul to active service.
85 gives way to 90733 for the services this weekend being joined by 43924 on Sunday which continues on the weekday service through to Friday 17th.
The Railway is delighted to announce that, thanks to you, the passengers and visitors to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the Railway has been awarded the Trip Advisor, Certificate of Excellence for 2016.
The main steam service will be in the hands of 43924 this weekend with 85 and 'Nunlow' on Vintage trains which start this Sunday. 85 will then continue in use throughout the week on the Monday - Friday service.
Vintage Train Sundays start this weekend with a new look for 2016. In addition to the full line service of a 4 coach Vintage set there will also be a Keighley - Ingrow West shuttle during the main part of the day. This weekend see no. 85 Keighley - Oxenhope and 'Nunlow' on the shuttle service.
After what seems like an eternity that the Keighley bridge restrictions have been in place, the Railway has breathed a great sigh of relief that the restriction has now been removed.
