On Wednesday 25th April, the KWVR welcomed 2 of the few remaining veterans of the British Forces who fought in the Second World War’s Normandy landings, to reconnect with their memories of 1940s railways
After much burning of the midnight oil by the event organisers, during which time they have had to deal with an ever changing line up, we are delighted to confirm the final(?) line up of visiting and home fleet locomotives and publish both the Working Timetable and the public Timetable.
This weekend sees the first of our Diesel & Ale Saturdays with 25 059 providing the power. The steam service will be hauled along the Valley by our USATC S160 no. 5820. Sunday sees a 2 steam train service, 5820 being joined by 78022. The 101 diesel multiple unit will operate the Wednesday diesel railcar service.
The Easter weekend sees 2 train operation with Easter steam services 75078 and 78022. From Tuesday – Friday 5820 takes charge of the daily service.
This weekend sees the introduction of the Easter daily steam service. This weekend's steam service will be in the hands of 75078 with the 101 diesel multiple unit on the diesel services. From Monday - Thursday 43924 takes charge and on Good Friday, when there are 2 steam services, 43924 is joined by 78022.
This weekend’s steam service will once again be hauled along the Valley by our LMS Class MT ‘Black 5’ 45212. The 101 diesel multiple unit will operate the diesel service on Saturday & Sunday and also the Wednesday diesel railcar service.
We're delighted to announce that Pannier Tank, 7714 will be joining us for our 50th Anniversary Gala courtesy of our friends at the Severn Valley Railway and the SVR Pannier Tank Fund. The loco will join us for the later part of our 8 Day Event, 24th June - 1st July.

It will be 5820 on the steam service train at the weekend being joined on Saturday afternoon by 1704 'Nunlow' on its last duties before overhaul hauling the appropriately named 'Nunlow's Nightcap'. The midweek Wednesday diesel railcar service returns next week with our Class 101 diesel multiple unit operating all diesel services.
If repairs are completed in time, the Saturday and Sunday steam service will be in the capable hands of 5820 or 75078 in 5820's absence, with the Class 101 diesel multiple unit operating the Saturday and Sunday diesel services. The midweek steam service will be hauled by 43924.
Celebrating the re-opening of the Settle to Carlisle Railway and 150 years of the opening of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the Oxenhope - Carlisle charter with 'Flying Scotsman' was a day to savour for passengers, volunteers and staff. For the Bank Holiday weekend we will have two steam locomotives in operation 75078 and 90733 plus an all day diesel service on Saturday formed of our normal service coaches hauled by one of our main line diesels, 37 075.
Richard Jones, currently Operations Officer at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and a former General Manager of both the Swanage and Bodmin & Wenford heritage railways, has been appointed to the new post of Head of Operating at the West Somerset Railway (WSR). Richard – who has been actively involved in the heritage railway movement since 1973, and celebrates 40 years as a volunteer at the WSR this year – starts his new role from 1 June.
BR Standard Class 4MT 75078 will haul all steam services from the 18th - 23rd April. Our DMU will be on the diesel service at the weekend until D0226 takes over for the last 2 trips on Sunday
After a delay due to the locomotives to work the branch not being ready in time, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway finally opened between Keighley and Oxenhope 150 years ago on the 13th April 1867.
Starting on the Saturday, 13th May 2017, RAIL STORY, at Ingrow West railway station, are delighted to announce the launch of a new club especially for children in the 8-13 age group to introduce youngsters to the wonders of science in a fun and highly imaginative, inspiring environment.
The 'Flying Scotsman' will soon be a happy memory for us all and we Easter is soon upon us with three locomotives in operation over the this week as all day running over the Easter holiday period comes into effect.

On Sunday and Monday of the Bank Holiday weekend there will be a celebration of film, past and present at Rail Story, Ingrow and Oxenhope Exhibition Shed - an event to be enjoyed by all the family!
There are 3 days of steam action this weekend with both 90733 and 75078 operating services plus the bonus of mainline diesel traction all day Saturday with 37 075.
75078 substituted for 90733 but the latter should be on duty this weekend subject to final checks. 43924 will substitute should 90733 not be available.
This weekend's steam action will be provided by 90733 returning to action after extensive repairs.
75078 heads the steam service for the last weekend of the Easter School holiday.
