Experience the railway from the Brake Van
Step aboard for a unique journey behind a working goods train and see the Worth Valley in a way most visitors never do. On this exclusive Brake Van Ride, you’ll travel in a restored Southern Railway brake van, maintained by The Bahamas Locomotive Society and take a trip along the valley!
What’s Included
- A full line return from Keighley on a traditional goods train,
- Enjoy stunning railway views as you climb out of the valley,
- Experience the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a historic freight movement seldom seen by the public.
What you need to know
- You must be over 18 and in good health to participate.
- You must be fit to climb on/off the vehicle whilst in a platform or a siding (in an emergency).
- You are not permitted to wear open-toed shoes or loose clothing during this experience.
- These are supplementary tickets, and you must also ensure you have a valid travel ticket.

On each morning of the 2026 Steam Gala, our Goods Train will depart from Keighley, offering an exclusive Brake Van experience with just 10 places available per day, early booking is strongly advised.
