Half Term Happiness

Over the October Half-Term Holidays, we will run passenger services every day with a mixture of steam engines and heritage diesels. Bring the whole family along (even the dog is welcome!) for an adventure through the Worth Valley and beyond.

You can turn up on the day and purchase your tickets (or pre-book online).

There’s plenty to keep you busy at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, whatever the weather.

  • Experience the sound & smell of a steam railway
  • Five miles of heritage railway to journey along
  • Six individual stations, full of character
  • An Exhibition Shed displaying vintage coaches and historic engines
  • The Carriage Works Museum, one of the finest collections of restored railway carriages
  • The Engine Shed full of exhibits and memorabilia of how railways used to be
  • Gift shops at Haworth & Oxenhope
  • On train Buffet Car, selling real ale, drinks, snacks & confectionary.

SPECIAL EVENTS

PLACES TO VISIT

VINTAGE CARRIAGES TRUST

The Carriage Works holds the Trust’s collection of nine historic railway carriages, three small industrial steam locomotives, a 1950s diesel railbus and a group of railway posters and other miscellaneous railway items.

The Museum of Rail Travel is part of Rail Story at Ingrow West and is open every day except Christmas Day. There is a small charge for entry to the museum, but it is free to passengers on the railway who hold a Day Rover ticket.

OXENHOPE TEA ROOM

In 1982 the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway invested in an atmospheric tearoom. You can now enjoy lunch and refreshment breaks throughout the day seated in a railway carriage that used to speed along Britain’s mainline railway network. Besides top-quality tea, coffee, and other soft drinks, the tearoom offers sandwiches, pies, cakes and biscuits!

THE EXHIBITION SHED

While locomotives are waiting for their place in the restoration queue, they are kept in our Exhibition Shed so that you can get a close-up view of these engineering marvels. Access to the Exhibition Shed is free of charge and an excellent experience for all the family.

BAHAMAS LOCOMOTIVE SOCIETY

The Engine Shed is an accredited museum that houses numerous displays and artefacts from the age of Steam.  Throughout the museum, you can follow a route to guide you through the exhibits and memorabilia to experience how railways used to be. The path will help you understand the history of the railways, the steam locomotive, and the lives of the people who built, operated and maintained them. There are several display cabinets for you to browse so you can take your time and gain a real insight into how things used to be.
