On Monday, 15^th May, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway were pleased to accommodate 275 Scouts and Guides from the Keighley area.  The Children were able to access the cab of the famous Flying Scotsman Steam locomotive whilst it is at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for the Flying Scotsman Festival, with lots of events to celebrate the centenary.  Smiles were all around as the whistle was blown, and everyone was shown the controls that drivers have used over the last 100 years, by two young volunteers Joe Lockyer and Ryan Hills.

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway has a strong ethos for young people being able to volunteer on the line, gain experience and general life skills as well as have lots of fun along the way. Welcoming this number of young people to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway to experience a steam locomotive has been a fantastic opportunity to showcase what can be done.

The Flying Scotsman festival has a variety of events running over the course of the next two weeks including a centenary dinner, an opportunity to ride the Flying Scotsman, cab visit days and evening events with a train ride and live music.
