Carriage Information

Named The Jubilee Bar to commemorate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977, this coach began life as a standard Mark 1 Open Corridor vehicle. In 1970, it was converted into a bar car and fitted with an authentic bar salvaged from a public house in Leeds. Painted in mock-Pullman livery tones to complement the Pullman carriages it is often paired with, The Jubilee Bar now provides the perfect vintage venue for any occasion.

The Jubilee Bar consists of two saloons. One houses the bar, where we can serve a range of soft and alcoholic beverages to your guests, and offers standing space for approximately 15–20 people. The second saloon can be left as an open space or furnished with tables and chairs to suit your requirements, accommodating around 24 guests.

Both saloons will be for your exclusive use, and no members of the public will be permitted to enter your privately hired carriage.

Carriage Information

Pullman trains offered a level of luxury far beyond that of ordinary mainline services, with passengers enjoying outstanding onboard comfort and service. The immaculate umber and cream carriages were truly a sight to behold, and for many, Pullman represented the very finest way to travel – making it a perfect setting for your special occasion.

The Railway currently has one Third Class Pullman car in service, used on special trains and private occasions, recreating the opulent style of travel from a bygone era.

Delivered new in 1930 to the LNER as numbers 83 and 84, the two vehicles were originally built as a pair. Following withdrawal, they went their separate ways, before eventually being reunited here on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

Carriage Information

These standard British Railways coaches were developed following the nationalisation of Britain’s railways in 1948. A new generation of vehicles was urgently required to replace coaches that had been damaged beyond repair during the war, or had suffered from years of limited maintenance.

At the same time, the former “Big Four” railway companies – LMS, LNER, GWR and SR – had each built stock to different specifications, creating operational challenges when vehicles worked together. A new, standardised design was therefore needed that could operate seamlessly across the network.

From this requirement, the iconic British Railways Mark 1 coach was born.
