Volunteer Stories

Here at Keighley & Worth Valley Railway we have over 600 volunteers who help us to run the railway. Each and every volunteer has their own story and history behind their reason for joining us and have some wonderful memories that we think they should share. We would love you to take the time to read some of our volunteer’s stories and the things they enjoy at KWVR.

Peter Kelly

Many of our volunteers are introduced to the railway by an older relative. Peter’s story is different, it all started taking his grandson to the railway most weekends as a member of the Young Person’s Group, and on taking part time employment, his grandson suggested he became a volunteer to take up the spare time he now had..

David Pedrick

David was keen to follow in his father’s footsteps and joined the railway at just 12 years old. Now he spends his spare time as a much-loved signalman. Find out more about David’s time at Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.
