The Saturday and Sunday steam service will be in the capable hands of 43924 with the diesel railcar M79964 operating the Saturday and Sunday diesel services and the midweek diesel railcar service which operates on Wednesday.
With the addition of Britannia Class 7MT 4-6-2 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' the Spring Gala promises to be the most spectacular in the Railway's 50 year history
For Paddington's visit on Wednesday and Thursday a 2 train service will operate with 85 and 75078, with 85 in service on Friday when the Duchess of Cornwall visits the Railway in recognition of our volunteering spirit as we celebrate 50 years of our Railway.
It has been unclear which locomotive will head the steam service this weekend and hence the late announcement. The Saturday and Sunday steam service will be in the capable hands of 75078 with the diesel railcar M79964 operating the Saturday and Sunday diesel services and the Wednesday diesel railcar service which returns on Wednesday.
75078 is in harness all week and into the weekend with the diesel railbus providing the diesel service on Tuesday and Wednesday as well as the weekend.
75078 stood in for the 117 years old no. 85 last weekend and continues at the head of the steam service this weekend.
No. 85 is back in harness this weekend and the locomotive will operate on both days with the diesel railbus providing the diesel service.
Taff Vale Railway tank no. 85 will be on duty on Saturday but will take a well earned rest on Sunday when 5820 takes over.
5820 is back in service after last weekend's difficulties, and will be taking the steam service this weekend.
Having deputised for 5820 on Sunday, 43924 will operate on the weekday half term passenger service supplemented by diesel railbus M79964 Tuesday - Thursday, when Postman Pat® visits the Railway.
It's as you were this weekend, with 5820 on the steam hauled services and the diesel railbus taking the diesel turns.
After being absent in January, 5820 returns at the head the steam service this weekend in place of 75078, now stopped for its annual examination.
