London Midland & Scottish designed Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-2T No. 41241

An ideal locomotive both in size and authenticity for the branch, 41241 was the subject of a thorough overhaul, completed in June 2018 in time to take its place in the 50th Anniversary celebrations in June of that year.

Rescued from Barry scrapyard in 1975, restored to working order in 1993, 78022 gave sterling service until withdrawn pending overhaul. After many years in storage, 78022's turn to be restored came and resplendent in BR green livery, returned to steam once again in late 2018.
