The full-colour album commemorates the photographer’s love of railways and steamships. Peter Sunderland, who died earlier this year, was an avid photographer whose high quality black and white images will be well known to enthusiasts and many KWVR members alike. But what is not well known is that he also took many colour photographs as well and a lot of these have only come to light recently. Morecambe had, in the past, been referred to as ‘Bradford by the Sea‘ because it was the seaside resort where a lot of Bradfordians travelled to when the city’s mills, offices and schools closed for their annual summer break. In addition, a considerable number of Bradford’s businessmen who lived in Morecambe would travel to work in Bradford by train every day, and many people from the Bradford area retired to the Lancashire resort.
