Second Re-opening of KWVR
When the Railway shut its doors in March no-one had any idea when passenger services would return, so it was with great relief and after many hours of burning the midnight oil, that on Saturday 15th August “real” passenger trains returned to Worth Valley metals, when the Railway ran its second Reopening Special, 52 years after the first.
Like the test trains of 21st & 22nd July and 8th & 9th August, the services over the weekend of the the 15th & 16th August were not available to the public, but were further test trains to ensure that the social distancing and carriage cleaning measures were up to the job, once the public were let through the doors on the following Wednesday, August 19th.
The trains were well loaded with volunteers and invited guests and it was with great pleasure. and not an insignificant amount of relief, that the days passed with flying colours.
