We endeavour to be as accurate as possible with our locomotive roster announcements but we must apologise for the confusion created by incorrect information being posted regarding services this weekend. On Sunday, firstly we have a 2 steam hauled train service and the early morning diesel service will be loco-hauled. This weekend promises something for both steam and diesel enthusiasts ignored by our previous post.
Having shared the steam turns with 90733 over the May Bank Holiday, BR 4MT 4-6-0 75078 will head the steam service on Saturday and on Sunday will be at the head of the corridor Mark 1 train, complete with real ale buffet car.
On Sunday the general public and enthusiasts alike can relive the days when a small tank locomotive would amble through the countryside at the head of 2 or 3 suburban coaches when Taff Vale Railway 0-6-2T no. 85 will make its weekend service debut, heading the second train comprising of just 3 suburban coaches. Starting at Oxenhope at 11.45, there will be 4 round trips to Keighley.
The weekend also gives diesel enthusiasts the rare opportunity to travel behind prototype English Electric 0-6-0 diesel locomotive D0226, which, on Sunday, will be at the head of the main service set in place of the usual diesel railcar service, commencing from Oxenhope at 09.00. There will be two round trips with D0226 before the locomotive hands over to 75078 for the 11.00 departure.
On Saturday the diesel service is in the hands of the Class 101 railcar.
