Beer & Music Festival 2015

Event date: 22 October 2015 - 25 October 2015

The railway’s popular Beer & Music festival will yet again be bigger and better than ever before, with not just 100 real ales to choose from, but over 150 ales from all over the country, along with longer opening hours and more steam trains than ever before, if you’ve not got the dates in your diaries yet what are you waiting for?

We are aware that many people return each year and it’s great to see so many repeat passengers over the Festival but this section is for anyone that has not visited us over the Festival weekend, or have little experience of Beer Festivals.

The Railway, over the weekend of Thursday 22nd October to Sunday 25th October, is transformed into a 5 mile beer Festival. The main festival site is at Oxenhope Station in the Exhibition shed, where there is the main Festival bar with over 100 real ales from around the country whilst not forgetting local breweries. Alongside the main bar we are joined by 4 brewery bars, namely main event sponsors Copper Dragon from Skipton,  and this year they will be joined by Goose Eye Brewery, Bridgehouse Brewery, and Kirstall Brewery. This means that there will be around 130 real ales available at Oxenhope alone. However this Festival is not just for the real ale drinkers out there, we have something for everyone. There is a specialist Cider bar at Oxenhope stocking 40-50 ciders from all over the UK, with some very drinkable fruit ciders available. And we don’t leave out wine drinkers; there is a wine bar available over the weekend selling a fine selection of white, red, rose wines along with the odd bottle of prosecco!

Most trains will have bars throughout the weekend. The Railway’s normal on-train real ale bar will be part of ‘The Ossett Brewery Express’, stocking beers from Ossett Brewery.

The Railway’s Jubilee Bar will be coupled into the second titled train ‘The Copper Dragon’ offering beers from our main sponsors, the Copper Dragon Brewery from Skipton.

We also have bars at Keighley, just in case there wasn’t enough choice for you, Old Spot Brewery along with Brass Castle and BAD Co. Brewing will have another selection of approx. 20-30 beers available exclusively at Keighley and a dedicated Cider bar on Friday and Saturday.

Add in live music at Oxenhope from Friday to Sunday, where approximately 30 bands will perform with a wide range of genres, from pop and rock to jazz and country – there’s sure to be something for everyone. Please note there is no live music on the Thursday at Oxenhope.

Bands will also be performing at Keighley on Friday and Saturday from 12 noon each day until 11pm.

41241 Ivatt Appeal

The Railway is currently holding an appeal to raise £200,000 required to get the steam locomotive 41241 back in steam in time for the railways 50th anniversary in 2018. 41241 is one of two locomotives that hauled the re-opening special back in 1968, so is very much an important part of the Railway’s history.

For the duration of the Beer festival Copper Dragon, main sponsor’s of the Festival, are brewing a special beer, called ‘41241 Fire Dancer’ which will be available from the  Copper Dragon bar at Oxenhope. For every pint sold of this beer £1 will be donated towards the appeal to help this symbolic locomotive steam once more and take pride of place at the head of the anniversary special in June 2018. For more details on the appeal and how you can help, visit the 41241 – Ivatt Appeal page of the website.

Sunday Family Day

This year, Sunday 24th will see the introduction of a family day. Not only will there be lots of steam trains for the kids but at Oxenhope there will be entertainment for all the family, with live music all day. And if that wasn’t enough, our friend Tall Paul will be putting on two shows to entertain the family. Check out Tall Paul’s website.

We will also have face painters available on the Sunday, not just for the children we should add!
