Diesel & Ale Saturdays

Having proved very popular since their Introduction in 2015, the Railway will once again be operating big diesel locomotive hauled trains ALL DAY on selected Saturdays in April, May and October.

In the current climate of uncertainty we are continually reviewing all our 2020 events and will be able to confirm the status of each event in due course.
Accordingly we cannot take any advance bookings. However please sign up to our newsletter ‘Worth Knowing’ to receive information about future events and when bookings reopen. Just click HERE to receive regular updates.

Saturdays 18th April, 30th May & 3rd October

If you love diesel locomotives and ale, this is the perfect event for you. On each of these Saturdays, we will be running a diesel locomotive hauled service throughout the day where we will be joined onboard by a local brewery to serve you the finest ales as you travel through the Bronte countryside. This will run in addition to our normal steam hauled service and will also be replacing our normal Saturday morning diesel railcar services.

The brewery joining us onboard the diesel hauled service will be offering three of their cask ales for you to enjoy, all served from our traditional handpumps. Trains carrying the brewery bar will be the 1100, 1230, 1415, 1545 & 1715 from Oxenhope and the 1145, 1330, 1500 & 1630 from Keighley. A range of hot & cold drinks, bottled lagers, ciders, wines & snacks will also be available on board.

Diesel hauled services will also operate from Haworth to Keighley at 0900 and from Keighley to Oxenhope at 0930 & 1800, however, the brewery bar will not be available on these services.

A full bar service including cask ales will also be available on our steam hauled services.

The locomotives to be chosen on each occasion from two of main line diesels:

  • British Railways Type 1, Class 20 BO – BO Diesel Electric No. D8O31 / 20 031
Built 1959, arriving on the Railway in 1992, D8031 / 20 031 has been a regular performer on freight workings and some passenger trains.
  • British Railways Type 3, Class 37 CO – CO Diesel Electric No. D6775 / 37 075
Built 1962, Preserved 1999, the largest diesel in the KWVR fleet, D6775 / 37 075 can be seen occasionally working passenger services on the Railway.

Normal fares apply. Simply purchase your chosen ticket and come aboard. We would recommend a Day Rover Ticket for this event so that you have unlimited travel all day.
