Over 30 locomotives are based at the KWVR. Most can be seen by visitors, but some are housed away from public view whilst under restoration for future use.

British Railways Type 2, Class 25 BO – BO Diesel Electric No. D5209 / 25 059

Built 1963, preserved 1987, 25 059 / D5209 has been a regular performer on the Railway for many years.

Continuing the work for which it was designed, 08 266 can be seen shunting stock around Haworth Yard.

British Railways Class 08 Diesel Electric 0-6-0 Shunter No. D3759 / 08 993

08 993 is the second member of its class on the Railway, purchased in 2015 with a view to allowing 08 266 to be retired or subjected to an extensive overhaul after working for 58 years on the mainline network and KWVR. 08 993 was returned to traffic in 2016 resplendent in EWS gold and maroon livery.
