Introduced in 2015, the Railway operates diesel locomotive hauled trains, as well as steam hauled services on selected Saturdays. For the last 3 years, this has proven very popular and the Railway is pleased to repeat the exercise for this year – big diesel haulage ALL DAY on some Saturdays May through to September.
As with last year the days will be sponsored by local breweries, so join us on these days when there will be a Diesel Hauled service ALL DAY in addition to our usual steam hauled service.
This service operates in addition to the steam train service. Starting at 09.00 from Oxenhope, the train offers 6 round trips of the line, finishing back at Oxenhope at 17.25.
The dates for 2018 are:
May 5th – Eagles Crag Brewery from Todmorden
May 26th – TBA
July 28th – Nightjar Brewery from Mytholmroyd
August 25th – The advertised brewery has now ceased trading but a variety of real ales will be available on both the diesel and steam hauled trains.
September 29th – Naylor’s Brewery from Cross Hills
The locomotives for these dates have been announced as follows subject to their availability at the time:
5th May – 20 031
26th May – 25 059
28th July – 37 075
25th August – 25 059
29th September – 37 075
- Autumn Ale (4.0%) – a light amber beer that’s sweet and malty. Balanced hoppy finish from Aurora and Willamette hops.
- Blonde (4.3%) – this blonde beer brewed using Optic malt along with a touch of wheat, has citrus and spice flavours with a floral finish provided by Hallertauer hops.
- West Riding Gold (4.4%) – a golden ale, hopped throughout with Chinook and Simcoe to give it a real bite.
In addition, normal fares will be charged and therefore an all-day Rover ticket costing only £18 is excellent value for a full day behind either or both, steam and heritage diesel locomotives.
